The white concrete relief façades are accentuated by double-height, stained concrete balconies
As Oy Karhunsammal is a 14-story residential building located in the block of the old Pohjola office building in Munkkivuori, Helsinki. The block contains seven towers in addition to the main Pohjola building. As Oy Karhunsammal, also known as F-tower, is positioned in the block’s north-east corner and adjacent to Kangaspellonpuisto.
The building’s windmill floorplan layout sets all the apartments around a central hallway, and it allows the balconies to face in every direction. Most units are located at the corners of the building, offering views to the surrounding park as well as the urban structure. It includes 82 apartments, 6 of which are two-story apartments, and their size ranges between 30 m² studios and 157 m² family apartments.
The white concrete relief façades are accentuated by double-height, stained concrete balconies opening in all directions, as well as by large windows facing the surrounding landscape.
In addition to the standard shared facilities, the building is furnished with: an indoor gym with direct access to the courtyard on the lowest level, two common rooms on the first floor with access to the block’s playground and exceptional club rooms with sauna facilities on the 14th floor.
The design complex offers the block’s residents a new indoor swimming pool area with 2 pools, a regular pool and a jacuzzi, 3 saunas and access to the common yard equipped with an outdoor gym. Car parking is located on the lowest floor, accessible by a ramp, and bike parking is within the building, accessible from the yard and inside the building’s elevator. The bike storage provides a place as well to wash the bike or the pet and a place to charge electrical bikes.
