A Landmark Pharmaceutical Facility in Turku
GeneCity, a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical facility developed by Turku Technology Properties for 3PBiovian, is a cutting-edge hub for the contract development and manufacturing of biological medicines.
Located in Turku’s Itäharju district, GeneCity is a striking three-storey building that continues the architectural style of InfraCity, also designed by Sarc + Sigge. It serves as a gateway landmark for those arriving in Turku from Helsinki. The building’s glass and ceramic tile façade encloses three floors of offices and a specialized clean room for biological medicine production. The interior showcases oak veneer finishes and a neutral color palette, while the lobby at street level features impressive floor-to-ceiling windows.
GeneCity is designed not only for functionality but also for sustainability. The project was executed in a responsible manner and meets the rigorous standards of the Platinum level of the LEED v4 certification. The facility comprises a single-storey production area, three levels of lobbies and office spaces, and a basement that houses social, storage, and support facilities. Additionally, the design allows for potential expansion to accommodate Biovian’s future growth needs.
With its cutting-edge infrastructure and commitment to environmental responsibility, GeneCity stands as a key development in the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector and a significant addition to Turku’s urban landscape.
