SARC in the Open House Helsinki-event

This year’s Open House Helsinki -event features two of our recently completed renovation projects.

Located in the city block known as Kaartin lasaretin kortteli, the Garrison hospital building from 1827 was originally designed by the architect Carl Ludvig Engel and goes by the name of Vanha Lasaretti. The block and its buildings were purchased by HGR property Partners in 2020. Development and renewal of the block started with the renovation project of Vanha Lasaretti. Renovation of the protected building was completed in 2022 and it has since provided spaces for Helsinki’s French school Jules Verne. SARC has been responsible for both the architect and the lead design of the project.

The historical villa of Puistokatu 4, as it is now, was originally built in the early 1890s. The building stood almost completely empty for years until the Tiina and Antti Herlin Foundation bought it in 2020. The complete renovation was finished in 2022 and the villa was re-opened as a Space for Sciense and Hope. Puistokatu 4 is a co-project of the Tiina and Antti Herlin Foundation and the Maj and Tor Nessling Foundation. SARC has been responsible for both the architect and the lead design.

Open House Helsinki will take place on May, 5–7, 2023. The purpose of the festival is to allow visitors into places which normally are not available for the public. The tours and walks are free of cost and are guided by designers and specialists. Open House -concept was developed in London in 1992 and Open House Helsinki is a part of the international Open House Worldwide -network.
