A new wooden Hesburger
A new wooden Hesburger drive-in restaurant designed by Sarc + Sigge. The restaurant is located on the busy Archipelago Road in Parainen, Finland.
The gabled, boat-like character of the building and its greyish wooden façade fit in with the archipelago. A full glass main wall, opening towards the archipelago, connects the restaurant lounge and the outdoor terrace. The interior of the building is clad in wood panelling.
The restaurant and its outdoor terrace provide a resting place for cyclists on the archipelago’s ring road. A bicycle parking area and electric bicycle charging points are located near the terrace. Part of the building’s electricity needs will be met by solar panels, the amount of electricity generated can be monitored on a screen in the restaurant lobby. The building is heated by geothermal energy.
