The foundation stone of the GeneCity pharmaceutical factory was laid on 2.11.2023 in Itäharju, Turku.
The new pharmaceutical technology will be used by Biovia Oy, a company specialising in the contract development and manufacture of biological medicines. The building will house a production facility and office space. The design will be carried out to the highest Platinum level of LEED environmental certification, which comprehensively assesses sustainable solutions in construction.
The new pharmaceutical factory will be a continuation of the InfraCity we designed and will continue their clear architectural design language. The GeneCity will be part of the development of the Itäharju as part of the Science Park in the Kupittaa area and will serve as a great landmark when entering the city. The building is supported by massive V-pillars and the facades are made of durable and beautiful three-dimensional ceramic tiles.
The building was commissioned by Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt Oy and built by Rakennustoimisto Lundén. The project covers an area of 6,300 square metres and is scheduled for completion at the end of 2024.
