AkvaCity is built using CLT, or cross-laminated solid wood. CLT is a durable, ecological and beautiful material, both as a structure and as a visible wood surface. In addition to wood, glass is the dominant building material, giving the façade a beautiful rhythm.
Special attention has been paid to ecological solutions. The building is designed to the highest level of Platinum Leed environmental certification. Minimising carbon emissions during construction, greening, stormwater management and energy efficiency have guided the design from the outset.
Turun Vesihuolto will move to new premises in the Itäharju area of Turku. The project will be completed in 2025. AkvaCity is commissioned by Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt Oy and built by Jatke Länsi-Suomi Oy.
