The station renovation and extension, and also the new platform canopies construction became necessary due to new Kerava-Lahti railway

The railway station building is protected and was built in 1935. An old red brick sauna building was demolished on the site of the extension. The extension has been designed to blend in as discreetly as possible with the historic railway station. The renovation included the interior of the building on the 1st floor (station hall, ticket office, commercial and staff areas) and the exterior surfaces and spaces. The extension includes a new internal staircase and lift connection from the station level to the station tunnel level.

Invited Architectural Competition 1st Prize.
