Extensive renovation of the former Helsinki School of Economics
The premises were restored according to the original ’50s spirit. The building service technology was renewed thoroughly and the building’s energy efficiency improved significantly.
As Aalto University Executive Education starts as the main tenant, the building will function as the leading concentration for the development of leadership and expertise in the Nordic countries. Alongside the renovation, new diverse and modern office, event and educational premises were created in the building.
The successful restoration project was recognized by the authorities of building control and nominated for the annually granted Rakentamisen Ruusu prize.
The building designed by architects Woldemar Baeckman and Hugo Harmia is one of the most remarkable works of the Finnish reconstruction era. Completed in 1950, the building is protected belonging to the international Docomomo Register as an object of protection of modern architecture.
The renovation was completed in December 2020, Sarc Architects were responsible of the lead, architectural and interior design.
